carbohydrate (carb) conscious guest.
We choose to model our menu around the two most popular diets. The
Atkins Diet, and the South Beach Diet.
Atkins Diet
The Atkins diet is based
upon the concept that your body burns both carbs and fat for fuel. Cut
back significantly on bad carbs like pasta, bread and potatoes, as well
as sugar, and your body burns fat, including its own fat, for fuel.
South Beach Diet
The South Beach
Diet can't be classified as a low-carb diet, a low fat-diet, or a
high-protein diet. Its rules: Consume the right carbs and the right
fats and learn to snack strategically.
What is the
difference between good carbs, and bad carbs?
The good carbs are the
unrefined carbs that are found in whole, natural foods, such as whole
grains, beans, rice and starchy vegetables. Besides being packed with
fiber, vitamins, and minerals, good carbs take longer to digest.
Bad carbs are refined
carbs, the ones where digestion has begun in factories instead of our
stomachs. Refined carbs are found in packaged, processed foods, such as
store-bought baked goods, crackers, pasta, and white bread.
